Product Description
In response to a huge number of requests for a value-focused, small, powerful sub for larger rooms that are appropriate for the MiniVee, Velodyne has created the MiniVee 10. With a 10-inch driver with almost 22 lbs. of magnet structure and a 3-inch inside/outside dual layer voice coil, powered by Velodyne's proven 2000W Dynamic/1000W RMS, energy efficient ERS amp, it can fill much larger rooms with even deeper, more powerful bass. You can depend on Velodyne's MiniVee 10 to deliver the room-shaking excitement of home theater, the bass extension of the lowest organ pedal notes, the detail and definition of a jazz string bass and the beat of your favorite hard-driving music, and do it all in a cabinet that all but disappears in your living environment. Great for music
While the power ratings are dubious, this sub sounds great with some DIY bookshelf speakers that I use for music. It sounds very transparent and tight, but not as loud as I expected. Maybe because it's not ported and boomy like a lot of HT subs are. I'd like to add a second Minivee 10 for a bit more sound and better imaging. I would recommend not using the signal pass-through because it seems to have a fixed high-pass filter on it.

Tough little mini-sub; great for 2.1 stereo. Not good for H.T.
I auditioned a few small subs; I wanted a sub NOT for Home Theatre, but for a small 2.1 stereo sound system. That said, it's a rock-solid performer. I did all my usual signal sweeps and recordings that make marginal subs sound awful; this one performed very well. It is matched with a Yamaha 100 watt/channel amp and a pair of NHT Classic Twos.I really would not recommend this unit for Home Theatre unless your theatre is in a very small room. This is a mini-sub, and it has nowhere near the power or projection necessary for a medium-to-large room. I tried it with my HT setup in a 12' X 18' room and it was not up to the task. Forget the published "power ratings" on these little class D subs; they mean next to nothing, and certainly can't be compared at all to class AB gear. The construction of this one merits special mention: the enclosure is rock-solid, sealed, and the driver is well-recessed. It will bear up to being moved around. It has no glossy...
