A Classic Keychain Knife That's Gotten Better With Time
The Spyderco Ladybug has been around for decades and has always been a top-notch keychain knife. But back in the day, it was only available in a 3/4 serrated version and in AUS-8 steel. Don't get me wrong, AUS 8 is a fine knife steel and even what many would consider to be a premium steel in a small keychain knife, but VG-10 is a decided step up in quality. More importantly, the plain edge blade makes this knife quite a bit more handy.The ergonomics have also been improved with the jimping on the back of the blade where the spyder-hole meets the handle. This jimping, along with the overall shape and texture of the handle, really allows a positive grip on this small knife. Combine the very sharp and usable blade with good grips and ergonomics and a very strong and well made lock, and you end up with a small knife capable of cutting far beyond its size. Great little knife for the wife
My wife laughed at me a couple of months ago when I got the spyderco bug. I didn't go crazy but I got a couple of knives. Feeling guilty that I had such fine cutlery, I decided to purchase a knife for her. Hence the purple ladybug above. I showed her how to open it, and warned her it was sharp. I asked her to keep it in her purse. She kinda made faces and laughed but complied. Well just so happens that last weekend at her friends bachelorette party she was the only one with knife to cut banners, wristbands and whatever else. She said it was a real life saver and was happy she had it with her. 5 stars for proving me right!!!

Love It
I love this knife so much I purchased another as a gift. The manufactured color is now more of a classic, deep-purple (red-purple) than the light periwinkle blue color shown in some of the alternate pictures. Also both knives sent have the screw construction that many people prefer and not the older pin construction.The knife is both small and light enough to carry in my pocket at all times. I love that the blade locks and that it can be opened one-handed.The knife is solid and sturdy and capable of handling fairly large tasks considering its size. The blade is very sharp right out of the box and Spyderco offers a great deal for sharpening their knives when it becomes necessary.Great knife, I highly recommend it.
