Top-drawer picture quality and value, difficult to position
For many theater installs, the HC4000 will be the best 1080p projector in its price range. Epson's 8350 is a strong alternative. My projector is an HC3800. The HC4000 is functionally identical save for an improved DLP chip that yields slightly lower maximum brightness and somewhat higher ANSI contrast. I did a quick Google search for "projector reviews" and found 2 good websites (projectorreviews.com and projectorcentral.com) that had lots of good information about projectors. I quickly found out that projector price and technology had improved considerably over the last 5 to 10 years. I quickly narrowed down my choices to 2 projectors in the price range I was willing to spend ($1K to 1.5K), the Epson 8350 and the Mitsubishi HC4000 based off the reviews from the 2 websites I listed...
