Perfect Gasket

A mechanics dream...
This stuff is tough, reusable, easy to modify with typical tools. If you modify exhaust systems or custimize them, you can't survive without having this stuff around. This makes awesome permanant exhaust gaskets.

How to make an elegant custom high temperature gasket
A few words about fabricating with MRG-5960.You can make some pretty nice high temperature gaskets with a drill press and die grinder or Dremel tool. Here's what I used with great success:1) some abrasive cutoff blades (disks) for the Dremel/die grinder. I got a 25 pack of Black & Decker's 15/16 x 0.040" cut-off disks. I went through four disks to make two large catalytic converter flange gaskets.2) a small medium grit (brown) 1/2" grindstone for the Dremel/die grinder. I used a cheesy 1/2" x 3/4" stone cylinder in a 1/8" shank that came with a cheap aftermarket accessory set for Dremel tools.3) a cheap set of diamond hole saws (I used Amazon #B001EJD9I6). These are open ended cylinders with a bit of diamond grit deposited on the cutting edge.4) an aerosol can of quick drying paint, I use some yellow engine paint that contrasted well with the green/gray gasket material.5) a piece of paper and a pencil...

Over 15 years & still works great
Been using this stuff for over 15 years on everything from cars/trucks, to motorcycles, lawn equipment, & even the coal stove. Works great as an adhesive too, as it dries to a strong rubber-like texture. Needs a bit of time to cure, but once it does it forms a pretty strong bond. I once used it in place of the differential cover gasket in a '86 Grand Marquis - lasted over 6 years before it started weeping gear oil. The color is ugly, but the stuff works. Top to learn more
Good Stuff
Used this to seal up some prototype biomass furnaces. I applied it to a warm furnace and it worked fine.I once used some cheap general purpose silicone for a high temperature application and it turned into a sticky mess that never cured. Super Sealant
I bought this to provide an added seal to the connection point of the FMF SST Gold Series pipe and the FMF Power Core 2 Silencer on my 2001 KX250 MX bike. I was getting a steady amount of burnt two-stroke oil dripping from the connection point and wanted a quick fix. I put a good bead of this silicone all around the connection point and let it dry overnight. By the next day it had set up nicely and was ready to go. As the other reviewer stated, it dried an ugly burnt orange color, but it sealed the leak 100%. Top to learn more

Versatile. Love it.
Needed a header gasket for my old CX 500 motorcycle and wasn't going to pay a ridiculous amount of money to some rip off company. This worked great. It was easy to cut with aviator shears, and pretty easy to form around smaller bike pipes. It might crack though when rolling into a tube if a pipe is smaller than 2 inches in diameter, since it's not totally bendable. Once on the pipes, it kept the sound and exhaust from leaking. GY6 Clone Engine Gasket works like a charm
Chinese 150cc scooters are usually GY6 clones (GY6 being the basic Honda (?) 150cc scooter engine, which the Chinese have created a knock-off of, hence GY6 clone). However, while Japanese, Italian & Korean build quality is generally pretty good & consistent for scooters, Chinese build quality can be all over the map, ranging from pretty good to down-right horrible (and dangerous!) The scooter I got was "pretty good", but still came with some default cheap-o Chinese parts. After purchasing and riding your scooter for a bit, I highly recommend you do a once-over on it at 500 miles or so and tighten down any bolts, screws, etc that are loose. In my case, where the muffler attaches to the underside of the engine came loose, the nuts literally loosened and came off from riding. One day the bike made a huge popping noise, and when I nursed it home I realized the cheap-o generic muffler gasket they used had blown out of the gap between engine & muffler. High temp RTV works great in many applications :-) It is not that great for flange gaskets, although it works fine in conjunction *with* flange gaskets. not the replacement of a gasket with a non-gasket material :-). On those other applications.
The gasket, positioned between the WaveRunner’s exhaust chamber and its muffler, is reached easily enough, since the muffler and exhaust chamber can be moved apart without further disassembly. 5) Spread a thin layer of gasket sealing compound on both sides of a new exhaust manifold gasket. Even though your Yamaha WaveRunner XLT 800 is a personal watercraft, to be used in the great outdoors, a leaky exhaust gasket will leave you riding the waves in a stinking miasma of exhaust gas. Thread the four 10 x 65 mm bolts into the bores at the rear of the manifold first, followed by the 10 x 125 mm bolts at the forward end of the manifold.
