Easy to fit - great replacement
It's a two person job to fit - make sure that you have someone hold up the bonnet/hood as well as propping it!The installation is very easy - use a flat head screwdriver to lift up the clips at each end; remove the old strut; install the new strut.Ten minutes total - great product - and great price from Amazon.

Most units also utilize StrongArm's patented temperature compensation module valve which ensures consistent operation even in extreme weather conditions. It does so by compensating for normal gas pressure changes caused by temperature variations. Strong but sticky
The support arrived very well packaged and in perfect condition. It installed very easily. Then the fun began...The support would NOT compress. It was completely rigid and immobile. I looked at the manufacturer's website for possible information on this. Were you supposed to do something to "unlock" it so the piston would slide? No help or information was available. I removed it from my car's hood and found no indication of anything that could be adjusted. After twisting the shaft and putting one end on a rubber mat while putting my weight on the other end, it finally released and the piston compressed. I installed it on the hood again and thankfully it functioned properly.Not sure if this was a fluke or somehow by design. The lack of help on the StrongArm website was a frustration. We'll see if the support continues to function properly and has a long life.

will fit 99+ passats.
I put this on my 99 passat 1.8t (same engine as the audi). Easy to install, just make sure you have the correct joint type, this one is ball type joint, there are others so be careful. Works well though.

Hard core
I had bad luck with specialty tools lately.These have been the best. I had some really old splines on my 944 some had damaged heads. I was able to beat these into the damaged bolts and pull out the splines with little to no damage to the tool itself. (which I wouldn't recommend doing unless you had no alternative)

Assenmacher, a cut above.
Don't sit there thinking and wondering if you should get this one or get a cheaper set from someone else. Don't waste your money on cheap junk tools. Assenmacher is top quality, and their tools not only FIT, but last and last as well. Full kit in a nice plastic case so you're not digging in your socket drawer for the right bit. If Assenmacher is one of the choices that I can make, then it will be my first choice.

Works great
This boot kit worked fine for my 2002 Camry. It can be tough to get the plastic bumper onto the strut shaft, but if you twist it while pushing down, it becomes a lot easier to get on.

Since they give no written instructions, I don't know what to call the part on which I want to comment.There is a flexible boot.There is a zip tie.There is a plastic washer.There is a lump of slightly flexible plastic with a hole running through it.No written instructions on whether or not you should force or stretch the lump over the strut at the base of the strut piston.I think I did it correctly.I hope I did it correctly.Let's get with the program, Monroe.
