Easy to fit - great replacement
It's a two person job to fit - make sure that you have someone hold up the bonnet/hood as well as propping it!The installation is very easy - use a flat head screwdriver to lift up the clips at each end; remove the old strut; install the new strut.Ten minutes total - great product - and great price from Amazon.

Most units also utilize StrongArm's patented temperature compensation module valve which ensures consistent operation even in extreme weather conditions. It does so by compensating for normal gas pressure changes caused by temperature variations. Strong but sticky
The support arrived very well packaged and in perfect condition. It installed very easily. Then the fun began...The support would NOT compress. It was completely rigid and immobile. I looked at the manufacturer's website for possible information on this. Were you supposed to do something to "unlock" it so the piston would slide? No help or information was available. I removed it from my car's hood and found no indication of anything that could be adjusted. After twisting the shaft and putting one end on a rubber mat while putting my weight on the other end, it finally released and the piston compressed. I installed it on the hood again and thankfully it functioned properly.Not sure if this was a fluke or somehow by design. The lack of help on the StrongArm website was a frustration. We'll see if the support continues to function properly and has a long life.

will fit 99+ passats.
I put this on my 99 passat 1.8t (same engine as the audi). Easy to install, just make sure you have the correct joint type, this one is ball type joint, there are others so be careful. Works well though.
