Buy it, I wish I had years ago.
I had seen these pictured in shop manuals, but never knew where to buy one for a reasonable price. I had only seen them from high-end tool vendors for well over $100. I happened to see this one day and gave it a shot. I'm glad I did, it works great. No damage to boots and parts from pickle-forks or hammers. And very fast! The steel appears to be very well tempered and should hold up well. I use this on passenger cars and it is the perfect size for tie-rod ends, lower ball joints, and upper wish-bone joints.

Works great
I bought this tool to separate some ball joints in order to install new springs and shocks on my vw. It worked great and separated the ball joints with very little effort. The tool was well worth the price I paid because I saved a $700.00 in labor charges by installing my springs and shocks myself.

Has anyone used replacement ball joints made by QH. I ordered these from a local parts store and attempted to fit them yesterday. I had to use a nut splitter to get the old ones off but when I went to put the QH ball joints on, they were completely the wrong size. I have now changed the top mount bearings, ARB, ball joints and had the springs, shocks, bearings and all bushed inspected and nothing obvious wrong. Can I do this given my A2 originally used the other type of ball joint. I have an 2003 A2 that uses the ball joint bracket that bolts to the suspension arm.
